CHENNAI - a role model city

Clouds burst pouring out darkness,
The thunderstorms showed it's vengeance.
The city was submerged,
But our souls cannot be engulfed.
Even when stress flooded our minds
when we had nothing to eat
Even when roaring tides masked the screams,
We knew it was all temporary
And Our hopes did not fade a bit.
For we knew the clouds will dissolve
Bringing back the smiling sun.
We witnessed oneness as the flooded rivers overflowed
Breaking down the boundaries of religion
Demolishing bridges separating rich and the poor
Helping hands arose every corner,
Mankind displayed selfless care.
We can either live through the flood or let it drown us,
We decided the former.

This poem is dedicated to all the people of chennai who went
out of their way offering a helping hand to others during the Flood.
I'm proud to say that I have spent 5 years of my college life there.
Dedicated to all CHENNAI-ITES! You guys are a role model to others.

Name: Bittu Jacob Owner of Baked for you by Bittu   1. Why did you pursue baking as career?   During my school days I enjoyed baking with my ‘Amma’. After getting married I used to bake occasionally at home and when we had guests at home.   On my son’s 5 th   birthday, I decided to make a fire truck shaped fondant cake. It was my very first attempt baking a fondant cake from scratch. When my family saw the cake they were quite impressed. To be honest the cake tasted lovely but it was not like those very neat fondant cakes . My family encouraged me to level up my skill by attending cake décor classes.       So I attended a class and learned the basics of cake decoration. Even at that point of time I never thought of taking this up professionally. That same year (2016) in the month of December my Appa asked me to bake 10 cakes to gift his friends. I was nervous about this but my Appa had full confidence in me. He convinced me to go ahead with it. And Guess what? It

That boy wearing black T-shirt kept calling me mom. Who is he?

Today a young man in his late twenties visited the dental clinic Im currently working in along with his mother. After the necessary dental treatment was done for the man I asked if the mother also needed a dental checkup. She said " I like red colour the most out of all colours ". I was confused. I didn't ask about her favorite colour. Then why was she telling me this. After paying the bill when they were about to leave the young man whispered  "My Mother has Alzheimers, that's why she keeps talking about random things, sorry". I didn't know what to say. I just stood there blank. This incident striked me deeply.            After a bit of Research on the internet about the symptoms and signs  I thought about writing a story about an Alzheimer's patient but later decided against it. Since a picture is worth thousand words here are a few cartoons i drew depicting the stages of Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's is a progressive and degenerative disease
